Is there anything more daunting than staring at a blank sheet of paper, or a blank screen and thinking, "OK. Create something! Create something wonderful!"
Rarely have I found the exercise of trying to create something wonderful to result in the goal. Inspiration strikes me at the oddest times and in the oddest ways, usually when I'm no where near paper or computer. I have to grab some scrap of paper and either scribble out a note or thumbnail sketch to remind myself later. How many ideas have been lost for want of pencil & paper?
Much of my artistic career has been in the service of others, clients who call with a particular need. Parameters are set and off my mind goes, sometimes like a pinball rocketing from bumper to bumper and flipper to flipper with the joyful dinging and clanging as the ideas rack up like the machine counter. Other times it's more like a car in rush hour gridlock, with the excruciating inching along toward the destination.
I intend to share some of both here. Projects that are in the works and past projects - maybe even some doodling of works to be.
Thanks for stopping by. I look forward to hearing from you.
